K&R Mitsubishi Stages Rally

The South West’s annual premier stage rally was held over the weekend of  28th and 29th January 2012.  This was the sixteenth consecutive year for the rally at Brean and proved the the best for spectators ever.

With an extra spectator stand giving an excellent view over the mid-field, and served by refreshments stalls, enthusiasts are already talking about the next event in 2013.   Promoted by Club Rallysport West, the event was the opening round of the Association of South Western Motor Clubs and the Cotswold Motor Sport  Group Rally Championships.

Pete Lloyd once again came first overall, and Organiser Rod McKenna told us that he was pleased with how the weekend had gone. "It was another great weekend - one of the best in our 16 years of racing here. The competitors and spectators really enjoyed it."

The K&R Mitsubishi Stages Rally last year supported Help for Heroes and local charity Highbridge Dreamscheme.   This year, the rally was supporting two organisations, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and specialist motor sport rescue unit West Country Rescue.

The rally was  held entirely within the confines of the Brean Leisure Park in Somerset and 90 rally cars tackled the12 special stages over 2 days.  Among the entries for 2012 were drivers out to defend their 2011 championship titles and start the new season in winning style.
